Listening to: Fireflies by Mofro

Architecture affects everyone. Where you live and work influences how the city around you looks and how you feel. Coming to London I've seen some of the most beautifully designed buildings in my life, and some of the ugliest too. These are just a few I'm very thankful to see almost daily:

London Bridge
The London Eye
The "Gherkin" or Swiss Re Building designed by Norman Foster who also designed the Headquarters for the Greater London Authority and the Mayor of London you see below

Something a little closer to home, Piet Blom's cubic houses in Holland
And further from home, The Hole House in Texas

  • Thomas Heathwick - whose work is very inspirational to me. He has a great variety of pieces, constructions and buildings. Not necessarily and architect or sculptor he combines the two fields.

One of a series of "Extrustions", Aluminium forced out at very high pressure to create these bench-like pieces.

This is the rolling bridge, which I adore and would really like in my garden or something.

  • Jan Kaplicky - smooth, flowing, textured designs.
The Lord's Cricket Ground Media Center
Selfridges building in Birmingham

  • Richard Rogers - one of the most recognizable architects in my opinion, makes use of a lot of glass as well as having everything rather than inside, outside the building.

Lloyd's Building

  • Zaha Hadid - she creates sensual, curvaceous and smooth buildings. I'm a big fan of her work as I love the organic aspects she brings to her designs.

In Cairo

The Pierre Vives building in Montepelier. Supposedly starting construction at the end of the year. The idea is of a 'tree of knowledge' that grows as an organizational diagram that makes up the building.
